Vanessa Keasler

Vanessa Keasler is a staff attorney in the Harrisonburg office. A Georgia native, Vanessa originally relocated to the Shenadoah Valley to attend James Madison University. She obtained her B.A. from JMU in 2006, graduating cum laude with distinction in Philosophy. She went on to graduate cum laude from the University of Richmond, T.C. Wiliams School of Law, in 2009.

During her time in law school, Vanessa externed with Henrico J&DR Court Judge Sharon B. Wills, participated in the Family Law Clinic, and served as one of the founding members of the school’s Family Law Society. In addition to her work in Richmond, Vanessa spent her Fridays and summers working in Harrisonburg as a law clerk for BRLS. Based on her extensive volunteer work throughout law school, she was recognized by the Virginia Bar Association as a Law Student Community Servant, and received the University of Richmond Pro Bono Certificate.

Vanessa began her work as a staff attorney at BRLS in October, 2009. From January 2011 until September 2013, she assumed the responsibilities of Referral Coordinator for BRLS’s extensive Pro Bono Referral Program. In addition to her work at BRLS, Vanessa has served as the Treasurer of the Harrisonburg-Rockingham Bar Association (2012-2013), and Chair of the Homeless Coalition of the Northern Shenandoah Valley (2012-2013). She currently serves on the Board of the Community Resource Center, and the Harrisonburg-Rockingham Bar Association’s Professionalism Committee. When she is not working, Vanessa is usually enjoying time with family, friends, and her notoriously mischievous dog, Ranger.
