Blue Ridge Legal Services (BRLS), the non-profit legal aid society serving 25 cities and counties in the Shenandoah and Roanoke Valleys, is seeking qualified candidates to fill our Fundraising Coordinator position. Working with the Executive Director and Program Administrator, this person will be primarily responsible for BRLS fundraising efforts.
Key Responsibilities:
- Work with BRLS’ Board of Directors and management to develop and implement a strategic and comprehensive fundraising plan for BRLS through individual and major gifts, corporate and foundation contributions, special events and other initiatives.
- Accomplish reasonable fundraising goals and increase the breadth of BRLS’ donor base by building relationships and using donor-centric strategies and approaches with the following:
- Board members
- Members of the legal community, including both law firms and individuals within the services area and elsewhere as appropriate.
- Individuals with capacity and reason for giving in the communities served and elsewhere as relevant.
- Corporations and foundations
- Plan and execute BRLS’ fundraising events.
- Develop fundraising communications materials, including print, audio visual and interactive pieces.
- Develop additional fundraising initiatives such as social media fundraising, planned giving, and endowment giving.
- Manage BRLS’ social media presence.
- Manage all aspects of development program administration including planning, database, record-keeping and reporting.
- Engage in networking and collaborative project development and grant writing.
- Assist in shared support staff duties as required.
- Assist the Executive Director and Program Administrator in preparing grant proposals and reports.
Preferred Qualifications:
- A commitment to (and ability to articulate) BRLS’ vision, mission and impact.
- A bachelor’s degree.
- Three or more years of successful professional experience in development, with a track record of identifying, cultivating and securing contributions from individuals, foundations, and corporations; events; grant writing; and managing donor relations.
- Experience with developing and implementing strategies for donor list expansion and engagement through social media.
- Organized, able to multi-task on a variety of projects with competing deadlines.
- Experience in implementing and managing databases and other systems needed to support an aggressive fundraising program.
- Excellent written and oral communications skills.
- Team player with excellent organizational, networking and relationship-building skills.
- Self-starter who is able to multi-task.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Canva, and Adobe products.
- Commitment to multi-year employment with BRLS
- CFRE preferred
- Vision, imagination, and the ability to motivate and inspire others.
