Dathan J. Young is the supervising attorney in the Harrisonburg office. He was a BRLS law clerk in 2005. Before joining the firm in 2007, he clerked a year for the Honorable David F. Pugh of the Seventh Judicial Circuit of Virginia. He is admitted to practice law in all Virginia state courts, theU.S. District Court for the Western District of Virginia, and the U.S. Bankruptcy Court (W.D. Va.)
Dathan received his J.D. in 2006 from the Marshall-Wythe School of Law at the College of William and Mary. As a law student he served as an editor/officer of the boards of the William and Mary Environmental Law and Policy Review, the Environmental Law Society, and the Alternative Dispute Resolution Team. During the same period, he interned with a general practitioner, the Virginia Department of Environmental Quality, and a public defender’s office.
Dathan graduated from Brigham Young University with a B.A. in German and a minor in mathematics. As an undergraduate, he was an editor of Perspectives and The Collegiate Post. He is proficient in German. Soon after settling in Harrisonburg, he joined the Fairfield Center (f.k.a. Community Mediation Center) as a director on its board for six years, serving part of that time as secretary, treasurer, and president.
